Dibang River Bridge, Arunachal Pradesh
● The Dibang River Bridge, completed in 2018 as part of NH13 Trans-Arunachal Highway , is a 6.2 km long road bridge across Dibang River which connects Bomjir and Malek villages.
● It provides all-weather connectivity between Dambuk and Roing in
eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh state of India.
● Trans-Arunachal means connecting one end of Arunachal to the other end.
Col Chewang Rinchen Bridge, Ladakh
● It was built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) over Shyok river (known as the river of death) on October 21, 2019. The bridge connects Durbuk and Daulat Beg Oldie in Eastern Ladakh. The Bridge also connects the people of Ladakh and all interior areas of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.
● The Col Chewang Rinchen Bridge is a 430-metre long Col Chewang
Rinchen was born on November 11, 1931, in Ladakh and is called
Lion of Ladakh for defending Leh and Partapur sector. He has been
awarded Maha Vir Chakra twice.
Dhola–Sadiya Bridge, Assam
● The Dhola–Sadiya Bridge, also referred to as the Bhupen Hazarika
Setu , connecting the northeast states of Assam and Arunachal
Pradesh.
● The bridge spans the Lohit River, a major tributary of the
Brahmaputra River, from the village of Dhola (Tinsukia District) in
the south to Sadiya in the north.
● At 9.15 kilometres (5.69 mi) in length , it is the longest bridge in
India over water .
● However, the 9.76 kilometres (6.06 mi) Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur
Bridge under construction in the Indian state of Bihar, is expected to
become the longest bridge in India upon its estimated completion in
November 2021.
Bogibeel Bridge, Assam
● Bogibeel bridge is a combined road and rail bridge over the
Brahmaputra River in the northeastern Indian state of Assam
between Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh district.
● Bogibeel river bridge is the longest rail-cum-road bridge in India ,
measuring 4.94 kilometres over the Brahmaputra river.
● As it is situated in an earthquake-prone area it is India's first bridge
to have fully welded steel-concrete support beams that can withstand
earthquakes of magnitudes up to 7 on the Richter Scale.
● It is Asia’s 2nd longest rail-cum-road bridge and has a serviceable
period of around 120 years.
● It is the 5 th longest bridge in India after Bhupen Hazarika Setu,
Dibang River Bridge, Mahatma Gandhi Setu and Bandra-Worli Sea
Link.
● It was inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi on 25 December 2018 on the occasion of Good Governance Day.

Kolia Bhomora Setu, Assam
● Kolia Bhomora Setu is a pre-stressed concrete road bridge over the
Brahmaputra River near Tezpur and Kaliabor in Assam, India.
[Tezpur litchi has got GI tag]
● It is named after the Ahom General Kolia Bhomora Phukan .
● The bridge falls on the route of National Highway 715, previously
known as NH-37A.
● This bridge connects Sonitpur on the north bank with Nagaon
District on the south bank.
● The length of this bridge is 3015 meters , and construction took place
from 1981 to 1987.
● It was inaugurated by the then PM of India, Rajiv Gandhi .
Naranarayan Setu, Assam
● Naranarayan Setu is the third bridge to have been constructed over
the Brahmaputra River in Assam, India.
● It is a double-deck bridge with a railway track on the lower deck and
a road on the upper deck.
● It has a length of 2.284 kilometres and connects Jogighopa, a town
of Bongaigaon District on the north with Pancharatna, a town of
Goalpara District on the south.
● The bridge was inaugurated on 15 April 1998 by Atal Bihari
Vajpayee , the Prime Minister of India at that time.
● This bridge is located on route of National Highway 17, erstwhile
route NH-31B.
● The Naranarayan Setu is named after Nara Narayan, a 16th-century
Koch king.
Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Bihar
● Mahatma Gandhi Setu (also called Gandhi Setu or Ganga Setu) is a
bridge over the river Ganges in Bihar, India, connecting Patna in the
south to Hajipur in the north.
● Its length is 5,750 metres (18,860 ft) and it is the third-longest river
bridge in India.
● It was inaugurated in May 1982 in a ceremony in Hajipur by the
then prime minister, Indira Gandhi .
● The Indian postal department issued a commemorative postage
stamp, " Landmark Bridges Of India: Mahatma Gandhi Setu", on 17
August 2007.
● Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated
the upstream carriageway of Mahatma Gandhi bridge over river
Ganga in Bihar through video conference in month of July 2020
Rajendra Setu
● Rajendra Setu (also known as Rajendra Pul and Simaria Pul) is a
bridge across the River Ganges that was the first bridge to link the
northern and southern portions of the state of Bihar .
● The road-cum-rail bridge near Hathidah in Patna district was inaugurated in 1959 by Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister
of India and the 1st Chief Minister of Bihar Dr. Srikrishna Sinha.
● The location of the bridge was based on the work of M. Visvesvaraya, who was more than 90 years old at the time.
● On a wheelchair he visited the bridge site on special request from the Chief Minister Dr. Shrikrishna Sinha.
● It is about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) long and carries a two lane road and a single line railway track.
Jawahar Setu, Bihar
● Jawahar Setu is across the Son River , between Dehri-on-Son
(Rohtas) and Son Nagar (Aurangabad), in the Indian state of Bihar.
● It is named after the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.
Vikramshila Setu, Bhagalpur, Bihar
● Vikramshila Setu is a bridge across the Ganges, near Bhagalpur in
the Indian state of Bihar.
● It is named after the ancient Mahavihara of Vikramashila which was
established by King Dharmapala (783 to 820 A.D.).
● The 4.7 km long two lane bridge serves as a link between NH 33 and
NH 31 running on the opposite sides of the Ganges.
● On 21 September 2020 Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi laid the
foundation stone of another 4 lane road bridge of 4.445 km length
over Ganga river parallel to Vikramshila Setu at a cost of Rs.
1110.23 crore.
● Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary is located in Bhagalpur
District of Bihar. It is the only sanctuary for dolphins in India.
Digha–Sonpur Bridge, Bihar
● The Digha–Sonpur rail–road bridge is a bridge across river Ganga , connecting Digha Ghat in Patna and Pahleja Ghat
in Sonpur, Saran district in the Indian state of Bihar.
● This bridge of 4,556 metres (14,948 ft) length is the second longest rail-cum-road bridge in India , after Bogibeel
Bridge in Assam.
● This is second railway bridge in Bihar after Rajendra Setu that connects North Bihar to South Bihar.
● The Digha–Sonepur rail bridge was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 12 March 2016.
Arrah–Chhapra Bridge, Saran, Bihar
● Arrah–Chhapra Bridge or Veer Kunwar Singh Setu is the longest
multi-span extradosed bridge in the world with a main bridge length
of 1,920 m (6,300 ft).
● The multi-span extradosed navigational section over the Ganges is
1,920m long and the bridge has a total length of 4.35 km , including
the approach spans of more than 2 km.
● The bridge crosses over the Ganges River in India, connecting the
cities of Arrah and Chhapra in Bhojpur and Saran districts in Bihar state.
● The bridge provides a roadway link between the northern and southern parts of Bihar
Munger Ganga Bridge, Bihar
● Srikrishna Setu Munger Ganga Bridge is a rail-cum-road bridge across the Ganges , at Munger in Bihar.
● The bridge connects Munger District Munger-Jamalpur twin cities to various districts of North Bihar.
● Srikrishna Setu Munger Ganga Bridge is the third rail-cum-road bridge over Ganga in Bihar.
● The bridge was named " Sri Krishna Setu " in the honour of the Great Freedom Fighter, Premier and 1st Chief Minister
and Architect of Modern Bihar "Bihar Keshri" Dr. Srikrishna Sinha "Sri Babu”.
● The 3.750-kilometre-long bridge costing Rs. 9,300 million is located 60 kilometres downstream of the Rajendra Setu
near Mokama and 63 kilometres upstream of the Vikramshila Setu at Bhagalpur.
● Bridge was formally opened for freight trains on 12 March 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pamban Bridge, Tamil Nadu
● Pamban Bridge is a railway bridge which connects the town of Mandapam in mainland India with Pamban Island, and
Rameswaram .
● Opened on 24 February 1914, it was India's first sea bridge .
● The rail bridge is, for the most part, a conventional bridge resting on concrete piers, but has a double-leaf bascule
section midway, which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through.
Bandra–Worli Sea Link, Maharashtra
● The Bandra–Worli Sea Link (officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Sea
Link ) is a bridge that links Bandra in the Western Suburbs of
Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai.
● It is a cable-stayed bridge with pre-stressed concrete-steel viaducts
on either side. Total length: 5.6 kilometres .
Howrah Bridge/ Rabindra Setu, West Bengal
● Howrah Bridge is a bridge with a suspended span over the Hooghly
River in West Bengal, India. Commissioned in 1943.
● The bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge, because
it replaced a pontoon bridge at the same location linking the two
cities of Howrah and Kolkata (Calcutta).
● On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu after the great
Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore , who was the first Indian and
Asian Nobel laureate. It is still popularly known as the Howrah
Bridge. Total length of the bridge is 705 m.
● The bridge is one of four on the Hooghly River and is a famous
symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal.
● The other bridges are the Vidyasagar Setu (popularly called the
Second Hooghly Bridge), the Vivekananda Setu and the newly built
Nivedita Setu.
Vidyasagar Setu, West Bengal
● It is named after Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.
● Vidyasagar Setu, also known as the Second Hooghly Bridge , is a toll bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India, linking the cities of Kolkata and Howrah.
● With a total length of 823 metres (2,700 ft), Vidyasagar Setu is the
first and longest cable-stayed bridge in India.
● It was the second bridge to be built across the Hooghly River; the first, the Howrah Bridge.
Vivekananda Setu, West Bengal
● It is named after Swami Vivekananda.
● Vivekananda Setu (also called Willingdon Bridge and Bally Bridge)
is a bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India.
● It links the city of Howrah, at Bally, to its twin city of Kolkata, at Dakshineswar.
● It is a multi span steel bridge and was built to provide road and rail links between the Calcutta Port and its hinterland.
