● Hokersar Wetland is a wetland in the province of
Kashmir, India.
● It was designated as meeting the Ramsar convention
on November 2005.

Surinsar And Mansar Lake
● Ramsar Site.
● Location - Surinsar Lakeis situated 42 km (26 mi) from Jammu city.
● Surinsar and Mansar Lakes are considered as twin lakes, as Mansar is located 9 km (5.6 mi) away from it.
● The Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the midst of both lakes.
● According to Hindu mythology the origin of this lake is associated with the warrior of Mahabharata, Arjun.
Wular Lake
● Wular Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in Asia.
● It is sited in Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir.
● The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum River.
● In 1990, it was designated as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention.

Manasbal Lake
● Manasbal Lake is located in Ganderbal District in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India.
● The name Manasbal is said to be a derivative of the Lake Manasarovar.
● The Mughal garden, called the Jharoka, (meaning bay window) built by Nur Jahan overlooks the lake.

India's second-largest artificial lake, after Govind
Ballabh Pant Sagar (Rihand Dam, Sonbhadra, UP).
● It is located in the Udaipur District of Rajasthan.
● Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary allows a close encounter with the rich wildlife in their natural habitat.
Nakki Lake
● Nakki Lake is a lake situated in the Indian hill station of Mount Abu in Aravalli range.
● Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed in this Holy Lake on 12 February 1948 and Gandhi Ghat was constructed.
Lake Pichola
● Lake Pichola, situated in Udaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the
year 1362 AD, named after the nearby Picholi village.

constructed Pakhal lake.
Ameenpur Lake
● Ameenpur is a small lake in Sangareddy District in
the Indian state of Telangana.
● It is the first body of water in India to be recognised
as a Biodiversity Heritage Site and is the first
biodiversity site to be approved in an urban area.
Hussain Sagar Lake
● Hussain Sagar is a heart-shaped lake in Hyderabad, Telangana.
● It was built by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah in 1563.
● It is fed by the River Musi (Musi is a tributary of Krishna River).
● It also separates the city centre of Hyderabad from its neighborhood Secunderabad.
● Hussain Sagar Thermal Power Station was built in 1920 by the 7th Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan on the banks of
Hussain Sagar lake.
● It was the first thermal power station of South India.
